SELF-TANNING NIGHTMARE

spray-tanning-scare.jpgI still remember when my little brother once asked my dad a very interesting question.

“Dad do you have two dads?”

My dad looked at him confused and answered “No, Why?”

“Because dad"–He said; "Your torso is a totally different shade than your legs.

It was hard to not burst out laughing.

Unfortunately though we may not hear that question most of us can relate. Being Latina sometimes has its down sides. Though I love my naturally tanned skin, sometimes it’s not all perfectly ‘distributed’ I feel like my tan stops at my knees.

I am not one to ‘spray tan’ or go under a ‘tanning bed’ self-tanners are my personal choice. Simply because I can focus on problem areas, I feel like it’s the perfect way to even out your skin tone. I like self-tanner moisturizers instead of ‘spray self-tanners’ since I feel like the spray ones might leave streaks or that it is harder to evenly apply on your own.

I have tried only a few self-tanners in my whole life and the first one was a complete FAIL. The smell was not the most pleasant, and aside from the tanner leaving me a slight ‘orange’ shade I feel like it didn’t really moisturize my skin. Others were just too thick and clumpy, they didn’t soak into my skin right away so not only did it mean I was running around my apartment in undies while waiting for time to pass by but it ultimately meant I spent twice as much time to getting ready. That ugly dry and orange skin some self-tanners left would only make me have to reach in my closet for anything that would hide my legs.

Do you know how hot Summers are in Texas?!

My favorite is from Jergens® I have been using it for about two-three years now and it is the one I use it almost year round since here in Texas you never know how the seasons will be I like to keep my skin tone even as well as keeping a healthy glow all year. I have to say the key to obtaining a great tan using a self-tanner is buying a product that is truly “buildable” and at the same time making sure that it moisturizes your skin, because if it doesn’t moisturize you may have to apply your moisturizer of choice and it might cancel out the self-tanners result.

Winter is coming to an end and I am ready to get back to my self-tanning routine I will be trying the new line from Jergens® Natural Glow Moisturizers and over the next few weeks I am going to keep you updated on my progress as well as give you some tips and tricks on my beauty regimen routine for the Spring/Summer and some fun outfits perfect for the season.
NEW Jergens® Natural Glow Moisturizer provides the same great, natural-looking color but without the sunless tanner odor!
